Module 0 · Orientation

The seven principles as a map

0.7

What you will learn

You have an overview of all seven principles and know how the course explores them one after another.

Before we walk the path, we look at the map. Here are the seven principles, as the Kybalion states them in its second chapter.

Seven principles, many laws

The Kybalion is clear about the number: "The Principles of Truth are Seven." From these seven principles, many laws follow. Some of them the book explains itself, such as the law of neutralisation or the law of compensation, and you will meet them within the modules of this course.

Other teachings have since spoken of further laws, among them the "law of attraction". The Kybalion mentions it only once, as an aspect of the Principle of Cause and Effect. This course stays with the seven principles and the laws the book itself describes.

The seven

  • 1. Mentalism

"THE ALL is MIND; The Universe is Mental."

How much of my reality arises in my perception?

  • 2. Correspondence

"As above, so below; as below, so above."

What can the small reveal about the large?

  • 3. Vibration

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."

What is in motion right now, in me and around me?

  • 4. Polarity

"Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites."

What connects the opposites I stand between?

  • 5. Rhythm

"Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides."

Which cycles do I follow, and how do I meet the swing back?

  • 6. Cause and Effect

"Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause."

What do I set in motion?

  • 7. Gender

"Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles."

How does something new come into being through me?

How we walk the path

The course follows the order of the book, in three phases. In the first phase, you look at the nature of reality: mentalism, correspondence and vibration. In the second, you turn to yourself: polarity, rhythm, cause and effect. In the third, you become creative: the principle of gender, which in the Kybalion is about bringing forth something new. We will explain this word carefully when we get there.

At the end, the last module brings the seven together. It shows that they are not seven separate worlds.

The question for each module

Each module has a question for your life. You have just read them under each principle. You do not need to answer them now. Let them come with you.

A moment of stillness

Read the seven sentences above once more, slowly, one after the other. Then close your eyes. Which one stays with you? Let it rest in you for a few breaths.

To take with you

Seven principles. Seven ways of looking at one reality.

Questions for reflection

  1. Which principle makes you most curious?
  2. Which one do you feel some resistance to? That one may have the most to show you.
